ABOUT the ILLUSTRATOR

Shuggie Crossland (they/them) is the illustrator of The Wolf Pup by Etua Snowball (nominated for the Janet Savage Blanchard Award for YA and Children's Literature), The Fawn by Etua Snowball and In the Shadow of the Mountain: Speculative Fiction from Hamilton's Youth.

As a dedicated and passionate artist, Shuggie is driven by the values of authenticity, cultural competence, community engagement, and inclusivity in their work. They take great pride in their ability to tell imaginative stories through effective and expressive visual communication. They utilize a range of techniques, styles, and mediums to create illustrations that they believe best serve the story at hand.

They live in Hamilton, ON with their girlfriend and their two cats Sanah and Juneaux.
